When the Year of the Rat starts with a plague, you know 2020 will be a good one! As much as we like to joke about it, Coronavirus isn’t a joke. Otherwise known as COVID-19, The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared it to be a pandemic and the number of cases is constantly rising. We all want to do the best that we can however it can be overwhelming to try and understand what you should be doing and what advice to go with.

According to QLD Health and the WHO, if you are experiencing any of the following please stay home and seek professional medical advice:

  • Sore Throat
  • Cough
  • Runny Nose
  • Fever
  • Difficulty Breathing

What is key to keeping yourself healthy is prevention! According to QLD Health and WHO, COVID-19 can be prevented by:

  • Washing your hands thoroughly and regularly
  • Using hand sanitiser otherwise
  • Avoid touching your face
  • Staying Hydrated
  • Maintaining a healthy diet
  • Allowing your body adequate time to rest

So, where should you turn for the latest information?

It’s hard to beat the convenience of the internet, and we know there’s a lot of useful and reliable information online. But there’s also a lot of misinformation. Remember that when you are looking for advice and information that you look at a variety of sources that are reliable for accurate information. Try your best to not get your information from social media and also news sites as they are not always reliable.

The best source for information is the Queensland Government Health website. They have information for everyone with detailed information fact sheets that answer a lot of frequently asked questions. They also have industry information for employers, schools, aged care and public spaces.

What about at Health Place?

Our aim at Health Place is to make sure that you feel safe and comfortable to come in to the clinic for your appointment. We have made sure to update our cleaning procedures at work to minimise the risk of spreading Coronavirus at the clinic. This includes wiping down all of the surfaces, handles, machines, pens and furniture regularly throughout the day with anti-bacterial wipes and sprays. Our therapists are all required to wash their hands between patients and use hand sanitiser every time they leave the room or clinic. We have staff procedures in place to monitor illness in the clinic to further minimise the risk and so that you can feel safe during your massage. For the next 12 weeks our staff will require the approval of a Doctor to work if they present with any of the symptoms similar to those of COVID-19. Additionally, hand sanitiser is readily available throughout the clinic for the use of our clients. Be rest assured that we are taking all the precautions and prevention methods possible to ensure that your appointment is a healthy one.
